Q1: How should overseas Chinese students handle entry and exit procedures?
A1: Matters such as airport pickup, accommodation applications, health check-ups for residence permit applications, Alien Residence Certificate (ARC) applications, National Health Insurance enrollment, and the new student orientation will be arranged and notified separately by
the Division of Overseas Student Services, Office of Global Affairs, before the start of the semester in August.

Q1: I am a student from Hong Kong and have obtained an Associate Degree. Am I eligible to apply for direct admission as an overseas Chinese Student at NTHU?

A1: Yes. Applicants from Hong Kong who hold an Associate Degree (or Higher Diploma) are eligible to apply through this admission channel. Upon enrollment, students may be granted advanced standing to enter the third year of undergraduate study, as per university regulations.

Q1: How does the online recommendation system work?


A1: After you enter your recommender’s name and contact information, the system will automatically send an email to your recommender. The recommender can then open the link in the email and complete the recommendation form online within the deadline.

Q2: Does the online recommendation system mean I don’t need to submit a paper recommendation letter?


A2: Correct. All recommendation letters must be submitted online; paper copies are not accepted.

Q3: My recommender gave me a paper recommendation letter. How should I submit it?


A3: Please remind your recommender to fill out and submit the recommendation letter online before the deadline, as only online submissions will be accepted.

Q4: What should I do if my recommender didn’t receive the system email?


A4: Ask your recommender to check the spam or junk mail folder first. If the email still cannot be found, log in to the system and resend the notification email. If the problem persists, please contact us.

Q1: I have already registered, but I am unable to log in to the application system again. What should I do?


A1: Please verify that your account and password are entered correctly. Then log in through the correct link announced on our office website, as each admission round has its own login link.

Q1: What is the difference between Recommendation Admission and Individual Application Admission?


A1: In addition to requiring a recommendation from the applicant’s high school, the Recommendation Admission also differs in the required documents. Please refer to the current year’s admission guidelines for details.

Q2: Do I need to mail paper documents to NTHU after uploading them online?


A2: No. The entire application process is conducted online. Applicants only need to upload the required documents; no paper submission is needed.

Q3: What should I do if I haven’t received my graduation certificate before the application deadline?


A3: Current graduating students may submit an enrollment certificate issued by their school to verify their student status.

Q1: Which departments or programs are open for Recommendation Admission and Individual Application Admission?


A1: The Recommendation Admission is open to the following programs:

  • Tsing Hua Disciplinary Program
  • International Bachelor Degree Program (IBP)– Track A (Chinese-taught)
    International Chinese Language with Multiple Disciplines
  • International Bachelor Degree Program (IBP) – Track B (English-taught) , offering the following fields of study:
    Electrical Engineering & Computer Science
    Business Management

    Engineering Technology

The Individual Application Admission is open to all undergraduate programs of the university.

Q3: What is the Tsing Hua College Disciplinary Program?

A3: Students admitted to this program can take required or foundational courses from various departments during their first year, allowing for more time and flexibility to explore their interests before selecting their preferred field of study. At the end of the first year, students choose their intended department through a counseling process with advisors and mentors, followed by an allocation meeting. There are no grade restrictions for departmental placement. The chosen department in the second year becomes the student’s graduation department, and the student must fulfill its graduation requirements. [Link]

Q1:Where can I get information about programs including curriculum, teaching format, and graduation requirements?

A1:You may find the informaiton on the department's website or by visiting the Division of Curriculum.

Q2:What English-taught courses are offered at NTHU?

A2:For detailed information about English-taught courses, please refer to the Division of CurriculumYou can also check the Application Guidelines for "Programs Taught in English."

Q3:What is the difference between the "International Master Program in Information Systems and Applications (IMPISA)" and the "Institute of Information Systems and Applications (ISA)"

A3:Essentially, the courses offered are the same. The key difference is that IMPISA specifically recruits students who have received ICDF scholarships, while ISA students may receive NTHU International Student Scholarships or other self-obtained government scholarships.

Q4:What is the difference between the "International MBA in Technology Management (IMBA_ICDF)" and the "International Master of Business Administration (IMBA)"

A4:Essentially, the courses offered are the same. The key difference is that the IMBA_ICDF specifically recruits students who have received ICDF scholarships, while the IMBA program's students may receive NTHU International Student Scholarships or other self-obtained government scholarships.

Q5:Does NTHU allow international students to transfer? Can the credits be transferred

A5:NTHU currently does not have a special transfer method for international students. If you wish to transfer, you can apply through the same method as local students (only bachelor's degree programs are open for transfer); For credit transfer details, please contact the specific department.

Financial Certificate & Scholarship

 

Q1:I have applied for ICDF scholarship, do I still need to submit a financial certificate?

A1:Since the ICDF scholarship is only applicable for the "International Master Program in Information Systems and Applications (IMPISA)" and the "International MBA in Technology Management (IMBA_ICDF)" programs, you will still need to provide a financial certificate if you are applying for other programs as well. Please refer to the table below.

*Note 1:

  1. If the account holder is not the applicant, they must indicate their relationship to the applicant and sign the Certification of Financial Responsibility Form.
  2. The financial certificate must clearly display the account holder's name, the date the document was issued, the currency, and the account balance.
  3. Please be aware that we may request additional documentation or reject the financial certificate if it is deemed unofficial or if there are concerns about its authenticity.

 

Q2:How to apply for the NTHU International Student ScholarshipAre there any restrictions on the applicable departments?

A2:Prospective students who wish to apply for the NTHU International Student Scholarship should do so through the Online Application System (the same system used for academic program applications). Please note that this scholarship is not available for the College of Semiconductor and ICDF programs.

Q3:I have received an ICDF scholarship, is it also applicable to other programs I applied for?

A3:No, the ICDF scholarship is only applicable to ICDF programs. If you receive an ICDF scholarship, you cannot use it to study in other academic programs. For applicants who apply for both ICDF and non-ICDF programs, please refer to the following table for various possible admissions and scholarships scenarios.

  • Certificate of CEFR B2 level or above. (TOEFL iBT 71, TOEIC 750, IELTS 5.5)

  • If you are from an English-speaking country (Country List Link), please provide a Nationality Document. (Note. Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand are included as English-speaking countries, while India is not included.)

  • If your previous degree is fully taught in English, provide an official statement.

  • If your previous degree is in an English language-related field, please provide a diploma.​​​

Notes:

  1. Each department requires different language proficiency certificates due to the teaching language. For example, for programs fully taught in Chinese, Proof of English Proficiency is not required. Please refer to the "Application Guide" for detailed instructions.

  2. The description of Proof of English Proficiency here is the minimum requirement; however, each department may still increase its required scores. Please refer to the "Application Guide" for detailed instructions.

Proof of Mandarin Proficiency

  • Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) A2 level or above, or an equivalent certificate.

  • If you are from a Chinese-speaking country, provide a nationality document (e.g., Taiwan or Singapore).

  • If your previous degree was fully taught in Chinese, provide an official statement. If your previous degree was obtained in China, provide the degree diploma.

  • If your previous degree is in Chinese language-related programs, provide the degree diploma.
