Eligibility Reminder
Foreign students who have studied in Taiwan, whose parents and themselves are all foreign nationals, and who have never held Taiwan citizenship or applied as Overseas Chinese students, may apply as international students. The application process is the same as for overseas applicants.

Eligibility for International Applicants

Eligibility Reminder

Foreign students and their parents must all be of foreign nationality, and none have ever held Taiwan citizenship.

The applicant must not have studied in Taiwan as an Overseas Chinese student.

 

Even if the applicant has previously studied in Taiwan under the Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan, they may apply again for a bachelor’s program once only.

Applications for Medicine, Dentistry, and Traditional Chinese Medicine are not accepted.

No such restriction applies to master’s programs.

 

General Eligibility

Applicants must be foreign nationals who have never held Taiwan citizenship and do not possess Overseas Chinese student status.

Exceptions apply to:

l   Taiwan nationals who have never had household registration in Taiwan, or

l   Those whose Taiwan citizenship was annulled for at least 8 years, provided they have lived overseas continuously for 6 years or more, and have not studied in Taiwan as Overseas Chinese students.

Residents of Hong Kong or Macao with permanent residency, no Taiwan household registration, and overseas residence for 6 years or more are also eligible.

 

Students who studied in Taiwan for less than one year and withdrew may reapply once only.

Eligibility follows the Ministry of Education (MOE) Regulations.

Students who obtain Taiwan citizenship during their studies will lose their international student status.

 

NOTES:
1. Application eligibility is based on the Ministry of Education (MOE) Regulations -Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan. If the MOE Regulations are revised, the most recent MOE Regulations shall be enforced. 2. International students who are approved for initial household registration, resident registration, naturalization, or restoration of their ROC citizenship while studying in Taiwan will lose their international student status and shall withdraw from the university.

3. International students who withdraw from the university due to misconduct, poor academic performance, or a conviction under the Criminal Code are not eligible for re-application.

4. Violation of any of the Ministry of Education’s regulations will result in immediate cancellation of the applicant’s admission status or the removal of the applicant’s status as an NTHU registered student. No academic certificate will be given.
